On the occasion of "World Blood Donor Day," we at Entigrity contributed to saving lives with our 50+ volunteers. We strongly believe that no one should feel a scarcity of blood in these challenging times.
The 14th of June is World Blood Donor Day around the world. The day allows us to thank volunteers and unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gift of blood and raise awareness about the importance of regular blood donation in ensuring the quality, safety, and availability of blood and blood products for those in need. The day also encourages new donors to donate blood by demonstrating how blood donations have saved and changed the lives of millions of people.
Importance of Blood Donation:
Millions of lives are saved each year as a result of blood and blood product donations. Blood donation has enabled many patients suffering from life-threatening illnesses to live longer and with a higher quality of life. Blood donation aids in a variety of complex medical and surgical procedures, as well as in child and maternal care, particularly during natural disasters and man-made emergencies.
Every day, more than 1200 road accidents occur in the country, with 60 million trauma-related procedures performed each year. On average, there are approximately 230 million major operations, 331 million cancer-related procedures such as chemotherapy, and approximately 10 million pregnancy complications cases, all of which require a blood transfusion. Aside from that, patients with sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, and hemophilia require a large amount of blood every day. Certain blood types are rare in nature, so raising awareness of the need for rare blood type donations is an important part of this day.
